From the page: "On September 15, 2007 all 85 McDonald's stores in Manhattan were temporarily shut down by Steve Lambert and friends using simple handwritten signs. The project was initially developed at Eyebeam and is an example of how networks of ordinary people can step up and shut down greasy giants. The prank's organizers also held a mock press conference where a fake Ronald McDonald, played by L.M. Bogad of the Clandestine Insurgent Rebel Clown Army, undergoes an existential crisis realizing that "there's something wrong with fastfood." (click link for video)

This seems like it had to take a lot of guts, and a bit of simple wit. Amazing stunt.

Activist artists shut down every McDonald's in Manhattan by taping "closed for evaluation" signs on their doors. Then a few of them held a press conference to reveal the cause of the restaurant closures: Ronald McDonald had a crisis of conscience about what the destructive impact of their food. Great stuff.

From the page: "On September 15, 2007 Ronald McDonald, who had fallen in love with the food of New York and become frustrated with the corporate agenda of McDonaldâ€s, stepped into action closing every McDonaldâ€s store in Manhattan. The closure, while temporary, affected all stores and was accomplished using simple signs and tape, as seen below."
