Sando rated 2 days ago- I have very good things to say about virtualbox. I'm using this as an alternative to vmware. In comparison, virtualbox is free and seems to be less memory intensive. It certainly runs a lot smoother under ubuntu.

- It doesn't support 3d graphics like VMWare does, but I prefer it. It runs very smoothly and quickly, seems more reliable than VMWare and doesn't load as many services on my system. Also runs non-MS OS, which VirtualPC won't do.

- Version 1.5.6 is quite good and remains usable for me. The new version released after the Sun takeover is rather buggy! I recommend people trying out this product to use the older version instead of the current release.

- VirtualBox is a general-purpose full virtualizer for x86 hardware.

- Excellent GPLv2 open-source alternative to VMware x86 virtualization. Easy to install via Automatix. It seems to have everything except bridge network mode. Seamless mode is useful if you need to use the VM often.
