Darque rated 16 months ago - Maybe the reason that you've heard the joke so many times before is because it's not a joke - it's the truth. When I switched to Linux, I thought having a real force-quit button would be so handy for applications that quit on me, so I put it right on my main panel - turns out I didn&...

gomerman rated 14 months ago- Funny how I haven't had a BSOD on my XP machine in years whereas the Debian machines at my university (Oxford no less) crash constantly. Let's face it, the device drivers for Windows are generally better than the Linux ones, as hardware manufacturers are going to put more effort into Windows.
This isn't the fault of Linux, but unless manufacturers begin to write good Linux drivers, we'll be living with Windows for a long time.

Actually, I have not seen a blue-screen of death for some time, either here or at work. The problem with Windows is that Plug and Play seems to work mostly, but sometimes it doesn't. I'm not sure about Linux. I get the impression that drivers are still an issue. The cartoon pokes fun at Linux distros for trying to be like Windows in order to convince more people to make the switch. If that is what they want then they should leap-frog Windows and try and copy the Mac, which is after all, Unix-based and expensive so there is room for growth. Personally, I'm waiting for Syllable to get to the magic 1.0x. Vista is interesting as long as you don't try to do anything with it ... and even then it can bite you in the butt;)
