    Being a traveler is much more fun than being a tourist. Tourists just waste money and time. In worst case, they form a ugly perception about the country of his/her origin to locals. Respect locals, try to learn from your trip. It will be more memorable!

    I think you can rush as long as you let yourself stop and soak it in when the moment arises. On a recent trip we hit 22 cities in 21 days. Very few reservations and it wasn't part of any tour, we just researched about 40 cites/destinations we liked, and then drifted or stayed at our whim.
