Even when its words are taken in context, the Bible is indeed full of contradictions. This is due to the fact that it was written by many different men, using many different versions of stories, and was compiled over the course of a number of decades; even devout biblical scholars don't dispute that.

People like to think of it as just one book, but it is more of a hodgepodge. The current version wasn't approved by the Christian Church until generations after the death of Jesus. This should be taken into account when you're considering how truthful its words are.

Oh I loved it, so in your face with the contradictions through out the bible. We were all told say, "call someone a fool and you're going to hell." Geesle pete, Jesus saids it quite a few along w/God. Some just don't like to see the truth.

How could you hope to understand the nature of God? After all; he is God, and if we could fully comprehend and define his ways, he would not be God. The first couple of verses demonstrate the fact of God's sovereignty. God has an infinite amount of compassion and mercy, yet he has an infinite amount of hatred and anger for sin. We can't understand this like we can't understand the concept of eternity. It doesn't mean that Jeremiah forgot what he had written 5 seconds ago.
