snoopkat rated 6 weeks ago- @Lunch-Meat, there's no reliable proof that cohabitation leads to divorce or single parenthood. Check your sources rather than going with whatever study you like the outcome of. Sources like this website, perhaps?

Don-Keehotay rated 7 months ago- To the reviewer who said "marriage is not 'government sanctioned'" -- what color is the sky in your world? People get married every day for the *legislated* tax and health care advantages that married couples get, to say nothing of inheritance and community-property issues. Sheesh.

Lunch-Meat rated 24 months ago- The concept of different family-types (cohabiation, step-familes, single-parent homes) has been around for only a short time, and at first it was welcomed because there was no evidence that it was a bad idea. However, hundreds of studies with decades of data show that cohabiting families are more unstable, that when they do get married they are more likely to divorce, that single parents are more likely to suffer in terms of quality of every area of life, that children of single parents suffer in quality of life, that children of divorce have a lower quality of life, that divorcees have a lower quality of life, that stepfamilies have a lower quality of life, and that many of society's problems can be attributed to the decline of marriage. These conclusions, all based on solid evidence from different studies which corroborate each other, cannot be ignored in favor of lofty statements about tolerance and equality which do not apply here. "When a culture does not permit itself to make value statements about one thing being qualitatively better than another, that culture has removed the primary organ allowing it to make progress and better itself." This quote is from "Why Marriage Matters" by Glenn T. Stanton, and I urge you all to read it if you consider yourself open-minded. The evidence is clear--other familial structures just don't work. If your only reason for advocating them is "It's not fair to judge other people's lifestyles," without statistics to prove that it's as good as other lifestyles, then you cannot justify your beliefs and won't get anywhere arguing with someone. I should also note that families with same-sex relationships are too new for there to be any statistical knowledge about its effects on children and culture, and it would be a mistake to assume that because we've seen nothing bad yet, we never will in the future (when children are grown and we can see long-term results, as we have in the case of divorce)

Gravelle rated 26 months ago- AWESOME site! It brings all topics relating to two people commiting to each other out in the open, and how the should, as well be recognized just as a married man and woman should be. EQUALITY, people!

Avik rated 27 months ago- i feel a website on such a topic is nothing more than humour.

kalitime rated 27 months ago- From the page: "The Alternatives to Marriage Project (AtMP) is a national nonprofit organization advocating for equality and fairness for unmarried people, including people who choose not to marry, cannot marry, or live together before marriage."
