I've seen this a crap load and it's missing a vital rule he wrote at the end: the greatest authors break all of these rules except for the first.

As a part time writer myself some of this I already knew, but the idea of being a sadist actually seems interesting. Perhaps I should develop a character just to get them killed halfway through the book.

Most of these are very obvious to any writer, or should be, but some are very insightful. I learned a thing or two.
