- Another long list of "Facts" none of which provide a source, and most of which are incorrect or misleading. Some of these are even in snopes if you care to look them up...

FLasHPOinT82 rated 21 months ago- The city of St. Petersburg, Russia, was founded in 1703 by Peter the Great, hence the name, St. Petersburg. But it wasn't always that simple. In 1914, at the beginning of World War I, Russian leaders felt that Petersburg was too German-sounding. So they changed the name of the city to Petrograd -- to make it more Russian-sounding. Then, in 1924, the country's Soviet Communist leaders wanted to honor the founder of the Soviet Union, Vladimir I. Lenin. The city of Petrograd became Leningrad and was known as Leningrad until 1991 when the new Russian legislators -- no longer Soviet Communists -- wanted the city to reflect their change of government, so they changed the name back to St. Petersburg.

- Yes, it is a relief that they are not all true

garbagge59 rated 23 months ago- if you know that any of these are fake, just send an email to me (the webmaster) along with some sort of proof, and i'll be more than happy to take the "fact" off my site. Just give me a week to do so.

RealDreamer1976 rated 23 months ago- This stuff is even too trivial for my taste.

pflammertsma rated 23 months ago- Most of this is jibberish, unfortunately.

thereallois rated 23 months ago- I just love this kind of stuff. Even if some of it is not perfectly correct, it gives you something to think about, plus they are great bits of "knowlwdge" to throw out in a group of people!

JeraDarklighter rated 23 months ago- These so-called "facts" are more than totally useless. Most of them are totally false... myths and misconceptions printed as fact on a bazillion web pages, and people take them as gospel, per usual. Interspersed among the garbage are a few truths, I'll admit, and some of the word origins could send you on an interesting etymological treasure hunt. But I would estimate that probably 3/4 of the "facts" listed here are very questionable at best, and completely fabricated at worst.
