ghowells rated 3 months ago- From the page: "Consumers should stop buying and eating all processed meat products for the rest of their lives." How about piss off WCRF. There is a little thing in this crazy world called freedom of choice. Fair enough put out your little advisory but please be aware that there are those of us who will ignore them and continue to patronize the likes of Oscar Meyer for many years to come.

ChellaAnn rated 4 months ago- There are safe alternatives such as nitrate-free or organic bacon. The same goes for red meat - it is fine, as long as it's organic. If you do consume prepared meats occasionally, a robust immune system will go a long way towards eliminating nitrosamines from the body. Basically, a good, robust, well-functioning immune system will keep you "clean" no matter what you consume, as long as you use moderation as a guiding principle and eat mostly healthy foods.

meatbot rated 4 months ago- I had heard sodium nitrate was bad for you long ago but somehow I haven't quite given up BACON! Too delicious, I guess I should quit now :( Bye bacon :(

chrisfreer rated 4 months ago- "The World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) has just completed a detailed review of more than 7,000 clinical studies covering links between diet and cancer. Its conclusion is rocking the health world with startling bluntness: Processed meats are too dangerous for human consumption. Consumers should stop buying and eating all processed meat products for the rest of their lives. " Processed meats include bacon, sausage, hot dogs, sandwich meat, packaged ham, pepperoni, salami and virtually all red meat used in frozen prepared meals. They are usually manufactured with a carcinogenic ingredient known as sodium nitrite. This is used as a color fixer by meat companies to turn packaged meats a bright red color so they look fresh. Unfortunately, sodium nitrite also results in the formation of cancer-causing nitrosamines in the human body. And this leads to a sharp increase in cancer risk for those who eat them.

LordAriakas rated 4 months ago- This website is bullshit, CAM is bullshit. The research they sight was just doing a meta-analysis of studies, it doesn't matter how many studies they do they can just cherry pick results. Two other hints this website is bullshit: Depression linked with Diet and Control ADHD without "dangerous meds"> I suffer from both Depression and ADHD and I can tell you that my meds are perfectly safe for one reason, they are regulated by the FDA and I eat like shit and I will still get depressed

katte rated 4 months ago- Oh fun. For once, I am incredibly glad I am a vegetarian and hopefully, I will stop craving bacon so badly next time I smell it cooking. Just remember the sodium nitrite!
