As a Veteran of "Gulf 1" I commend this man for raising public awareness of the gross abuse of power by the Bush administration. I am sure Kieth Oberman will be doing a piece on this man very soon.

"Never in my life did I ever imagine I would have to disobey my president. But then again, never did I imagine my president would lie to go to war, condone torture, spy on Americans, or destroy the career of a CIA agent for political gain. I would rather resign in protest, but the army doesn't agree."

Truly a great example of integrity. Let's not treat him like a nazi defecting because of his opposition to war crimes... instead let's respect his judgment as an individual making a moral decision for himself. lock him up.

I hadn't heard of this guy before. Good for him! This site has more current info on the matter, though: http://www.thankyoult.org/

This man is a true patriot. Our president is the terrorist. Let's stop the killing of our young men and women.

It is a soldier's duty to refuse to obey illegal orders. The US administration should be tried before the Hague War Crimes Tribunal for their numerous abuses of the Geneva Convention. This man is not opposed to war per se, just illegal, immoral wars. The war in Iraq was not justified in any way and it was not sanctioned by the UN. The prisoners at Guantanomo Bay have clearly been tortured and mistreated, as proven by the testimony of several British civilians who were detained as unlawful combatants.

I'm not sure where to start with this. A guy enters the military of his own free will. Receives benefits, financial and otherwise. Then when he's called on to ante up, he's suddenly opposed to war. Everyone repeat after me: If you're not willing to go to war, don't join the military.

From the page: "Mr. President, you have violated: Article I of the Constitution by deceiving Congress, Article 2 of the U.N. Charter, U.N. Gen. Assembly Res. 3314 and the Nuremburg Tribunal Charter barring wars of aggression, and many other international and domestic laws. As a commissioned officer of the U.S. Armed Forces my legal and moral obligation is to the Constitution--not to those who would issue unlawful orders. It is my duty to refuse to fight this illegal war."
