This goes to show that even in our age of electronic technology and the instant gratification of news items at our fingertips 24 hours a day, we still end up missing out on stories as we sift through the ever increasing glut of news items. If I had not paid a visit to Damesallsprint I would never have read about this tragic news so, I must thank her for this link. It is terribly sad to hear that Nicholas Hughes has committed suicide. Being the son of two literary giants who are forever shrouded in a maelstrom of controversy and bitter accusations all carried out in the public eye must have had a devastating affect upon his psyche. My one hope out of this tragic tale is that eventually the general populous will equate the name Sylvia Plath to her poetry of Ariel rather than to the morbid fascination of her last act in this world; while the name Ted Hughes will equate to the Crow, his other body of works and being the Poet Laureate rather than being regarded as this tormented and controversial figure.

From the page: "The son of the poets Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath has taken his own life, 46 years after his mother gassed herself while he slept. "

I feel bad because this doesn't seem like something that should be connected with a thumbs up, but it's one of the better written accounts of this.

Well-written but terribly sad news about the suicide of Sylvia Plath's and Ted Hughes' son.
