burkinaboy rated 6 months ago- Despite the alarms about global warming, the news concerning Brazil's crucial Amazon jungle is not good. Once again, satellites are showing deforestation is on the rise. And once again the government has announced a package of measures aimed at halting it. If you think you've heard this story before, you're not wrong. It's depressingly familiar.

- The Amazon is crucial to the health of Planet Earth - its loss would see an acceleration of climate change, oceanic mayhem, etc. The momentum of destruction is gathering pace at a time when we are already facing potentially catastrophic consequences. This destruction calls for our determined and collective effort if we, and our families, are not to face a bleak future. In the final analysis inaction on our part will see future generations accusing us of being just as guilty as those causing the current destruction! I don't want that on my conscience - do you my friend?
