It is unfortunate that every Remembrance Day there are those who feel excluded from remembering loved ones. Germany is no longer considered an "enemy" but, then neither is Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, The United States of America or any other country. It is people in power who make mistakes and decisions that lead to war.

May they rest in peace

Nov. 11th, when we remember our war dead, is a conflicting time for me. You see, I am a German immigrant. I cannot speak out about our fallen sons and daughters because they were on the side of the "enemy."
My brother lost his life on the Western Front, and my mother was a civilian war casualty. Six of my cousins also lost their lives.
My loyalty lies with my Canadian brothers and sisters, but also with my German families who lost their brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers.
May all who perished be friends in eternity, and may they all rest in peace forever. May we always remember them.
