- pretty funny, i personally dont see it as un libertarian to call the fire department, but do agree that the whole depatrment could use soem stream lining to improve efficiency and to lower budget costs, like supporting more volunteer departments that would get most of their money from donations and charity work. i mean, volunteer fire departments is what Benjamin Franklin set up,why not use them more? and fire departments being social welfare program?

"Although the community would do better to rely on an efficient, free-market fire-fighting service, the fact is that expensive, unnecessary public fire departments do exist," Jacobs said. "Also, my house was burning down." Jacobs did not offer to pay firefighters for their service.
