BIOTECHNOLOGY AND THE SPIRIT OF CAPITALISM Excellent. This is a long 15 pages PDF study that is well worth the reading. The central question that Cohen poses is "The genius of commerce is that it tames remarkable things; it makes past transgressions seem normal. Could it be that scientific rationalism and post-modern irrationality have more in common than it once seemed? This description in the form of an interrogation, it seems to me, transforms a fundamental trait into a benign character. The questionning by Cohen is like being tamed by a deep belief in the progressive and positive aspect that capitalism inherited from the blind following and application of the Western "axioms of civilization".
