Well . . . doesn't he just frost my pickles!
It is seldom that I thumb something down but this site and artist I do
- the idea that he makes childrens's art 'better' by re-painting 'realistically'
what they have already drawn is ridiculous. Reading the press clippings,
all seem to herald his 'inventiveness' and children are invited to
submit their own work with a statement of what their drawing is,
but have to keep it short so he can work with it -
it all smacks of a gimmick to me by someone who
is better at copying than creating
work on his own.
Children have a natural way of drawing - untrained and very truthful -
why remove that lovely talent.
Picasso said,
" Every child is an artist.
The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up."

- really fun idea. found this while checking out borderline's reviews... the artist/author takes a child's drawing of a monster or superhero and gives it life by turning it into a more "realistic" painting.
