- MOVIE REVIEW: Stephen King's "The Mist""The Mist" is a little gem of a movie that echoes back to the days of horrors like "The Thing", that focus on sociatal breakdown in the face of unreasonable fear and the savageries humans are prepared to undertake in the name of self-preservation.It features a range of imaginative creatures (the large beast near the end resonated with me the Dali painting 'Elephant Temptation Of Saint Anthony'), but they wisely are given a back seat to the movie's true monsters: the human beings themselves. As the terrified people trapped in a supermarket witness the horrors unleashed, one-by-one they start to believe the kooky lady preaching about God's judgement day. From here, two untrusting factions start to form, creating a tension and a menace that constantly bubbles up in the background.I feel Thomas Jane in the lead puts in a passable performance at best, but Marcia Gay Harden as the preaching woman steals the show with a love-to-hate-them Old Testament fury. 8/10

matchet rated 4 months ago- a masterpiece, about the human psychology, about how people are and what religion makes of them,of how It has gained power using peoples weaknesses and offering irrational lies and invisible authorities which seem to be the easiest and only alternative for the mass(did I mentioned stupidity?)

They always seem cheap, and the actors (and acting) are bad, and way bellow the quality level that King's works deserve, with few exceptions. So, it took me a while to decide whether or not to watch this one. Now I'm glad I decided to watch it."The Mist" is one of the exceptions.I'm a big fan of Stephen King. What can I do? I am. It's my popish side. And you thought I didnt have one, right? I thought this movie was EXCELLENT, despite some negative reviews.Yes, there are the flying monsters and some gooey scenes... after all, it is supposed to be horror. But it is probably the best production of his novels, bringing names such as Academy Award-winning MARCIA GAY HARDEN, as a deranged religious woman, and TOBY JONES (Infamous). The ending will make you wish you were dead. You have to wonder about the mind of someone who thought of an ending like this. The brilliance and the darkness of it. Watch it and tell me.
donmac101 rated 13 months ago- Hope this one does better than other Stephen King adaptations.

- Cool; while it isn't my favorite King story, it'll make a good film.
rajg rated 5 months ago- Horrible from start to finish. Weak acting, weak cgi, and weak ending. It's a pity that they all didn't get nuked or something.
NCArtist rated 13 months ago- My favorite Stephen King novella...finally!!!
