It angers me to see parents treating their child as a theory rather than as a person.

The parents want to be different, just like everyone else. I can only imagine that they concocted this cockamamie scheme for a shot at a reality show. I just wonder if they're gonna be able to deal with it when "Pop" just realizes "Hmm, I have a penis/vagina, so I'm going to act like a guy/girl, so I don't get ridiculed/beat/ostracized by my peers." Therein lies the most dangerous aspect of this: society rejecting and punishing Pop for a damn theory their parents wanted to play around with...and the funniest part of this is that I highly doubt Pop's parents have an elevated enough separation from their own subconscious to treat the child completely and utterly neutrally--because, honestly, it's not something human beings are capable of. The parents know what Pops' genitalia looks like; they've been immersed in the boy/girl culture of the world for 24 years; they know how boys and girls are treated; and inevitably, their interaction with the child will always lean to the applicable side. I just hope the kid lucked out and got more common sense than the parents.

Well, this is bizarre. I don't think it will seriously hurt the child in terms of personal development, but if it sticks too long, he or she may find they've lost their place. Though nowadays hardly anything is gender specific, it's undoubtedly hard for someone who finds they don't fit in either category.

The problem may be: the kid grows up 'genderless', see it's getting a lot of attention for it, and decides to stay this way forever.
