There's nothing 'new' in there but at least it's decent argumentation~

Very thoughtful post on the nature of religion and some of the folly.

Much speaking, but still truth.

This is pretty wordy, but it's worth a quick skim. I used to be an active Mormon. I served a full-time two-year mission in Colombia (SA) before returning to school at the Univ of MN. It was after my mission that I started really questioning the Church's history and doctrines. After a very heartfelt effort, I opened my mind to the reality that the Church "is not true" (to use Mormon parlance). I tried out non-denominational Christianity, but it didn't take long for the ultimate truth to set in: NO RELIGION CAN WITHSTAND OBJECTIVE ANALYSIS. I hate to use all caps, but I want that to be clear. Apologists always fall back on faith. They can't help themselves. God's a fiction. Jesus is a myth. Joseph Smith is a fraud.

God is a construct for the fearful, the lazy, and those who need to elevate their hatreds in order to sanctify their actions against others.

See the point Keith Mayes is making in his well thought-out article.

From the page: "It can be no coincidence that the countries that have the poorest populations also have strongest and harshest religions." Yup. So it would follow that improving the living standards of people in the middle east would help to combat terrorism...
