- The Hammer is an aging-boxer comedy co-written by and starring Adam Carolla, 42, as the aging boxer. Carolla's also trying his luck on this season's Dancing With the Stars - is there a theme here? Responding to a midlife crisis with fists or foxtrot? I'm a bit skeptical of his dancing ability, but he at least had good comedic chops when he played "Mr. Birchum" back on KROQ long ago. Plus, the movie seems promising based on the trailer and it's getting good reviews so far(Variety: "A strong crowd-pleaser in its own unassuming small-pic way, requiring savvy handling, 'Hammer' could nail an inside sleeper track."
