- I agree with donniedarko [cool name, cool film]. At the time of his employment he was the best [only?] man for the job. In looking at his record you have to ask 'in the same circumstances could anyone have done better'. England have a chance to do well in this world cup because it is so open and is being staged in Europe. You get the impression that the tabloids would rather we went out at the group stages than actually won the thing. In the past, apart from 1966 our best performances in major tournaments have been when the manager has been known to be leaving [Robson & Venables].

- Hey hey, it's the FA. My views on the whole ugly Sven thing, firstly, of course he's going to leave after the world cup. That wasn't in question in the first place. If he wins, how can he top it? what's the point of waiting another 4 years to do it again? especially when you'd have thought he'd have retired by then. And if we don't (which let's face it is more realistic) he'll be out as we look for someone to blame for 2010. But when he says it himself, it's a huge story? Right. Secondly, huge football stars like Rio Ferdinand _ARE_ lazy players. they get paid £100,000 a week however their team plays and if their team somehow don't meet the requirements of the league (Leeds Utd 2003 for example) the players will just jump ship to a team that will pay them to be lazy for a bit longer. (Harry Kewell movingto Liverpool for example). Sven isn't saying anything new, so lay off him. He's a good manager, probably the best we've had for a good 20 years. Damn tabloids... grrr
