Meggie Mac is a dolt. Pure and simple. And this article is no exception. Meghan, if you want to gain some cred with the GOP and thus have their ear, maybe you should spend less time telling them you think they're wrong. Focus on why the other guys are wrong. Otherwise only liberals will listen.

She doesn't understand. She has excepted the world's definition, probably willingly, and so will never know a guiltless, baggage-free marriage or romantic relationship. That's really too bad. I would feel only pity for her if she wasn't the kind of person destroying Amercia.

From the page: "As a Republican, I am pro-life. But using birth control and having an abortion are not the same at all. Actually, the best way to prevent abortions is to educate people about birth control and make it widely and easily accessible. " I don't agree with much of her or her father's politics, but she is 100% right on this issue. I happen to be pro-choice, and one of the things that always confuses me about many pro-life conservatives is that they are so opposed to educating children about birth control. There's no better way to avoid abortions that a responsible approach to sex.

From the page: " ... the GOP continues to struggle with open communication about serious issues most people deal with rationally, and on a regular basis. Unless we learn how to integrate that kind of discussion, our party will continue its descent into irrelevance. We live in a big world, one where you can contract a lifelong STD, have an unplanned pregnancy, or get date-raped, just to name a few of the dangers associated with sex. We should prepare our kids for it, realistically. Then they might be more apt to make the right choices when they live in it themselves. Bottom line: Honesty isn't a liberal or conservative issue. It's a human one. The sooner we realize that, the better off we'll be." ~~Meghan McCain Good for her.

I applaud the entire McCain family for trying to keep the Republican party from every whim of Papa Rush.

Meghan McCain is to be congratulated on trying to bring a little sanity to the Republican's discussion of abortion, birth control and abstinence. However I find it curious that she titled her blog "The GOP doesn't Understand Sex" when it is abundantly clear to even the most casual observer that it is Ms. McCain who doesn't understand the GOP. The GOP is about control--in particular, rich, white men controlling everybody else...sex is just one tiny bit of their control program, but being a young (and rich and white) it's apparently the only one Ms. McCain has bumped up against and felt the injustice, and idiocy, of. Perhaps if Ms. McCain were poor, or a minority, or if the economic disaster her party brought upon the rest of us touched her more deeply, she would understand the depravity, callousness and tyranny of the rest of the GOP agenda. But sex seems to be the only thing that's on her mind. I await the advent of some child of the privileged Republican class of elites who suddenly discovers, and gains a national platform decrying, the Republican economic policies of class warfare, the Republican domestic policies of ruling by fear and of rolling back, with alarming frequency, our Constitutional freedoms and protections against their increasingly intrusive vision of government (which Republicans always rail against, but always promulgate), or the Republican foreign policies of unqualified support for nasty dictators who aid big businesses' rape of the earth's natural resources (and human resources in sweat shops) and the Republican Party's brutal Imperial designs and heartless repression of dissent. I am not holding my breath.
