UyuLula rated 4 months ago- From the page: ""The Adventure of A Bather" describes a modest sunseeker's loss of her bikini bottom while she swims. Blocked from land by embarrassment, she certainly cannot turn to a male swimmer for aid, and yet:
in her disappointed fantasies, the people to whom she had hoped to turn had always been men. She hadn't thought of women, and yet with them everything should have been more simple; a kind of female solidarity would certainly have gone into action in this serious crisis, in this anxiety that only a fellow woman could completely understand. But possibilities of communication with members of her own sex were rarer and more uncertain, unlike the perilous ease of encounters with men: and a distrust--reciprocal this time--blocked such communication.
Out at sea the Bather confronts the social and personal isolation of her sex; other authors would resort to hell, assassinations and plagues to illustrate such existential loneliness. Her plight, both sartorial and emotional, are relieved by a simple, silent act of kindness that shows how much can be communicated when nothing can be said. "

Only her head emerged and, unconsciously, she lowered her face towards to surface, not to delve into its secrecy, now held inviolable, but like someone rubbing eyelids and temples against the sheet or the pillow to stem tears provoked by some night-thought.

I love that story.

TylerMC rated 16 months ago- Yippee! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Walt & Mearsheimer. These men will go down in history as true American heroes. AIPAC, The ADL, The WJC and all the other racist based Jewish only promoting, Christian and Muslim killing or deporting Zionist organizations out there are really starting to squirm. All I can say is it is about time. The hatred, Jewish supremacy (or any supremacy...Jewish supremacy aka Zionism, aka dispensationalism, aka holocaust whatever, is the current flavor of the decade. Not the first, not the last...but just as ugly, disgusting, racist and deadly), the elitism, the false victimization, the vile advocacies of these groups seeking to create haves and have nots in the name of God...don't you love it when evil ideas (and racism and supremacy of any type is evil) starts to fall? May the devil collect his due from Zionism's promoters and may the good of all faiths see through their evil quickly so we can all get back to the business of living, raising families, loving and creating a better world...instead of constantly having to confront these megalomaniacs. And just in case you think you're alone denouncing Zionism...you're not. I engage an average of 50 strangers a week on this issue in all different places: restaurants, the grocery store, Post Office, bars, parks, events... you name it. In the past six months I've only met three people in America who really got angry...two were Israelis and the other turned out to be a hard core Christian Zionist. Oh well...lost souls are not my problem. Everyone else, once they felt safe...in three different languages and of every race and faith, expressed serious issues with Zionism, Israel and what is happening. They just thought they were alone and everyone would think they were crazy. They are not. They are the majority and there is nothing judeophobic about discussing a political ideology's corruptive influence on US foreign policy, our laws and our faiths. In fact it is insanity not to discuss this. It is time to start talking about this openly. All of us. And from what I've witnessed over the past six months...Americans of all faiths, including both Jewish and Christian which have the most to lose through Zionism, are ready. So start talking! Major giggles here...from the page: But Peretz Professor of Yiddish Literature Ruth R. Wisse, a critic of the professors, maintained her stance that they are attacking the wrong group for distortions in U.S. foreign policy. "I'm disappointed that Professors Walt and Mearsheimer did not begin by writing a book about the anti-Israel lobby [which] presents a far greater danger to the Middle East and to the United States of America," Wisse said. " Tactic number one: Israel must always be victim even when it is the major oppressor. Truth is irrelevant. Tactic two, all life, philosphy, issues and arguments revolve around one issue and one issue only: Jewish interests and whether this makes Jewish people or issues look good or bad, (because in a Jewish supremacists mind, the rest of us don't matter so everything must focus on them...even when they are irrelevant). In the real world we call this self-centered idea racism, delusions of grandeur and false pride/vanity. Tactic three: false pity in an effort to cast shame and discredit by invoking victimization. The Hasbara Handbook (the pro-Zionist guidelines for indoctinating Jewish Americans into service of a foreign nation) teaches its traitors in training to express 'disappointment' or 'dismay' at ideas that do not conform to their myths. This effort would receive a B+ I believe. When facts don't support your position...only deflection, obfuscation, ommission, broad generalizations, guilt and attempts at character assasination remain as options. Maybe this should be a C+ instead. He forgot to invoke the Nazis and the German Holocaust...that is ususally good for at least one more grade level.
