What swords weigh. Wonderful site for the reenactor, the duelist, the historian and historical fiction authors who don't want to have 'melville' using the wrong sword in their story.

An interesting source on Medieval and Renaissance swords. It seems almost like their weight has just been ingrained into our minds, without any proof, and here is finally someone who separates the facts.

At last! Anyone who has actually handled a Medieval sword knows they were practical weapons. I, too, have heard 'experts' who have never actually used an edged weapon comment on the 'blunt, clumsy, crushing' swords of the period. This is absolute rubbish! Finally, someone sheds a little light on this hoary old myth. Bravo!
