This article describes my position on drugs nearly word for word but does it much better than I could ever formulate onto paper. Read it if you think pot should be illegal.

From the page: "A Lecture at the University by Alexander Shulgin" A 1991 Lecture by Alexander Shulgin that expresses concern about the Drug War leading to a potential Police State in the United States. This discussion is highly relevant to the excesses and unconstitutional actions of the Bush administration since 2001. Red or Blue State ... you should be concerned about your freedoms. You never know what kind of government may arise in the future. George W. Bush may be a kindly father figure compared to what is in our future.

From the page: "If you are a person in authority, you now don't have to confront the suspected wrongdoer; you confront his possessions, instead. Accuse his bank account of being the result of illegal activity, and seize it. Accuse his truck of having transported illegal drugs, and confiscate it. Accuse his house of having been bought with cocaine dollars, and take it from him. This is a move from criminal procedures to civil procedures. Such a person, invested with the power of the law, can decide that your car, your boat, your lower twenty acres of pasture land, have been associated with the commission of a drug-related crime. He can and will seize this car (boat, land), invoking the mechanisms of civil forfeiture, and you can't do a thing about it. By association with a crime, it is meant that the seized item was used in the commission of a criminal act, or that it was obtained as the result of a criminal act. All of the above acts on the part of the authorities are possible without any jury findings whatsoever; in fact, without a trial of any kind having been held. "
