AnarKitty discovered 30 months ago- Another jump back to the earlier days of computing, this website has a bunch of fun ways to play with the mostly left behind step-brother of Internet access: telnet. While other early services like IRC and newsgroups still thrive, this has largely joined Kermit and Gopher in the historical dustbin, except for fun places like this. Best of all, here: the hella-impressive Star Wars episode 4 mini-movie, done entirely in pure ASCII for your retro enjoyment. You may need a telnet client - get one here, too.
