Idiots. Of all the trees, why would they single out fruit trees. Many of them have actually been bred to use less water than their shade tree counterparts.
Of course, those city-slickers don't often know the damn difference, do they? Anyway, when London is underwater, I hardly think an apple tree is going to make much difference, either way.
