3 minute talk on the obesity epidemic. Short but complete.

"In a sobering 3-minute talk, Dr. Dean Ornish tracks the dramatic spread of obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease around the globe -- as people outside the US start to eat, live and die like Americans do. "This may be the first generation in which our kids live a shorter lifespan than we do," Ornish says. The good news? These trends are preventable and even reversible through diet and exercise." - - - - - - - - - - - - - The Mediterranean diet has always been hailed as a very healthy diet. But, as with everywhere else, there's no escaping the *fast food and conveniently packaged prepared food* trend that globalization brings. As Burger Kings and Pizza Huts crop up in every Spanish city... as hanging out in malls (buy, buy, buy) little by little becomes more popular than strolling the lovely quaint plazas and narrow streets of Spain, obesity, eating disorders and disease set in. OTOH, now I don't have to listen to foreigners blab on and on about how fat Americans are.
