Just as each human being is made up of many smaller organisms without which the human being could not function, and as the human being itself is greater than the sum of its parts, the web is the catalyst for converting human beings into the cells and parts of one giant computing organism. As Kevin Kelly states here, the web, as it exists now, with all of its links and storage, is the equivalent of one human brain. Following through with this metaphor, by 2040, the computing power of the web will surpass that of humanity itself.
