I hate to be a killjoy, but what exactly is the point of Technorati? The exposure is minimal and the site is down half of the time from server issues. Most internet marketers and bloggers I've spoken to have said that Technorati has done close to nothing in regard to exposure. It has a great site design, and no doubt, a huge community...but I fail to see what it's true purpose or benefit is.

This site's functionality is so low, its not worth using at all. In the one year that I've attempted to do so, I've had nothing but failure and headaches. This site couldn't possibly work any worse. And actually, I shouldn't use the word "work", 'cause it doesn't.

Getting your blog on Technorati is very problematic. It doesn't crawl the web for blogs, but expect the author to register his blogs with it. I was unable to register my use.perl.org journal (probably due to a rel="nofollow"), nor could register the LiveJournal communities that I started. So I only have my personal LiveJournal blog, but obviously that's not enough. As a result, I decided that Technorati has little to show for, besides a cooler name than other blog search engines, and have refrained from using it. It provides incomplete view of the blogosphere.
