This is interesting article. The world is evolving and everything within it. In order to keep selling your products and services, the way you advertise them will need to evolve as well. Basically reputation and authority will be most important not how many times your ads are flashed in a customer's face.

I'm one of those consumers who abhors advertisements on the net. If I had enjoyed advertisements or took them seriously, I would have kept the boob tube I gave away to a couple who just got together.

Good info from an academic about why Internet advertising doesn't (sometimes) work. I don't think we can say it's a complete failure, but we definitely need new marketing models.

I don't agree with the thesis (he neglects both the concepts of direct response online marketing, which will always be funded, and the still existing disparity between the dollars spent online and consumer time spent online), but think there are definitely some interesting concepts here.

hehe... Unfortunately this is not true... Otherwise, there would not be people making millions off of it. In fact, the major networks are only making more money, even in economic depression...

From the page: "Advertising will fail for three reasons: Consumers do not trust advertising. Consumers do not want to view advertising. Consumers do not need advertising."

"One newspaper after another is going out of business across the United States, and the ad revenues of traditional print media, even of highly respected magazines, is declining. The ultimate failure of broadcast media advertising is likewise becoming clear."
