taobabyluv discovered 9 months ago- Great ad from Amnesty International on a full page in the USA Today about the erosion of our freedoms and civil liberties.

lylakoimoon rated 4 months ago- From the website http://www.taos2cents.com/awareness/amnesty-usa-today.html "The purpose of the ad is to commemorate the one year anniversary of the Military Comissions Act, which essentially removed the right of habeas corpus. The bill was passed under the guise of "protecting us from terrorism". In reality they're just eroding the protections that many people have fought and died for. All of this because of greed and lust for power."

The bill was passed under the guise of "protecting us from terrorism". In reality they're just eroding the protections that many people have fought and died for. All of this because of greed and lust for power. It's an old story. Earlier this evening I was thinking about how hard it is to build something up, and how easy it is to tear it down. Trust is essential to cooperation and is the foundation from which mankind arose. Yet we cannot trust the people in our own government, and they are quickly tearing our country to the ground. They are tearing it down and reselling the parts to the highest bidding multi-national corporation. This is all happening and the people of this country are letting it happen. Maybe it's because no one alive has first hand knowledge of the suffering and struggle that has allowed us the freedoms we have. Maybe it's because we don't realize what it's like to not have these freedoms. Perhaps we, the coddled generations of Pax Americana can not comprehend the ramifications of what is happening before our very eyes.'
