A tribute to Richard Pryor

***...A fine tribute. I never knew the power of this man's humor until I became a "full-fleged" adult. Though many of his routines affected me in particular because I am a black man, Richard Pryor spoke for all humans (yes, even when he was talking about "getting some p*ssy")--pain, joy, sex, our collective stupidity, the triumph of love, the destructive nature of hate, the beauty and humor of our animal friends--all of these have affected the lives of each of us to some extent (have they not?). What about his vulgarity, you ask? It was just part of his being--and Pryor was all about "keeping it real." I'll stop. This review isn't funny. But Richard Pryor--that motherf*cker was funny...and deep, too. ~From the page: Whoopi Goldberg has said of Richard Pryor... "When Richard spoke about life, it was funny to everybody. While his comedy was centralized in what was then called `the black experience,' white people, Spanish people, Hungarians even, were laughing, because at his core, and at the core of his comedy, the human experience lives."
