Iwashimizu Hachiman-gu Shrine, tutelary shrine of the Minamoto (Genji) clan. The Tale Of Genji From the page: The Tale of Genji - the 11th Century Japanese classic written by a Heian court lady known as Murasaki Shikibu. ...It is generally considered to be the world's first true novel, and was certainly the first psychological novel ever written. It also serves as a kind of travel guide to the world of Genji. If you are planning a trip to Japan, visiting some of the places featured in Genji Monogatari is a good way to start. These pages contain photographs of many of those places, and others mentioned in other literature of the time.

i've read genji monogatari, and it's a pain to read. :-( this is a good website, especially for people who need resources on the book.

The Tale of Genji rocks! Story about a guy who slept with every woman he could, including his own adopted daughter! But, seriously, it's left its mark on history, and I've been to some of these places, I recommend :D
