What is it? A cottage? A Trailer? A Home? All of the above. Technically, the miniHome is classed as an RV - or recreational vehicle (yes, it is on wheels!) but it is designed to work as a comfortable, year-round dwelling in extreme climates. While we see it as the future of sustainable housing and urban infill, it is ideally suited as a ski chalet, cottage, vacation retreat, guest cabin, a place for the kids or family - basically as a luxurious yet simple home-away-from-home. We are also embarking on the design of 6 additional models, some will be classed as travel trailers, others as regular homes under the building code(s). ** LR ~ This is what an RV should be... or a down-sized home, if you want to live simpler, greener and smaller. Two thumbs up!! Here's a video about it... seriously impressive!

Trailer trash grows up. MiniHomes are self sufficient eco homes that can be towed around on the back of a truck. One of my friends lives in a very well appointed shipping container, and I am fascinated about whether the idea of small living would suit me. Its a compelling idea to be able to move house by sticking it on a truck or a boat. Its an interesting design challenge to achieve as much as possible within such small constraints.

MiniHome: Self-sustainable, mini trailerhome - and a nice website too.

Some say they are "ugly". I suppose that depends on your definition of the word. And I suppose it depends on whether you want to be purely superficial. As the old saying goes, "Don't judge a book by it's cover". This is an excellent concept and one that I truly hope to see catching on as time goes by. And I, for one, happen to think they are very attractive ... much more so than homes being built that only contribute to the further destruction of our planet.

I'm quite fond of this eco-trailerhome idea.
