Zael discovered 31 months ago- A site established to give support to Denmark, that got boycotted in many islamic countries because of 12 satirical cartoons published in Jyllands-Posten newspaper on 30th of September 2005.

- Interesting site not sure why it has focused on supporting a particular country rather than on the damage that has been done to free speech internationally but at least people are talking about it. When this all happened I was the editor of my Students' Union Newspaper (Western Eye - University of the West of England) and was scared shitless by the reaction from parts of the Islamic Community (lets face it it was to be expected) but more so from our own media. A neighbouring student rag ' Gair Rhydd - Cardiff University) also published the cartoons and under the univeristies orders had most of the editorial staff chucked out of uni or fired, additionally all issues of the paper to be recalled and mulched. Sufficed to say I did not publish the cartoons myself as I did not want to lose my job, despite the rebellious side of me wanting to make a statement about free speech I did not think it would actually help the issue and would probably just further polarise opinion. Both sides really need to come to terms with the others point of view as much as possible and in turn excercise sensitivity around the issues. I know what the free speech purists are thinking "even having to consider it is to much of a limit on free speech" - I agree but what alternative is there? - Muslims take everything to the extreme even if one of their own drew a picture of their god. Religion is just an excuse to insight hatred and voilence, now thats the truth.

- freedom of speech. this could have happend everywhere, i live in a free european democraty where we can say what we want. its for ourself to make the decision what an offense is and what not.

- I have nothing against Denmark, but I will certainly not 'support' it in the name of a neocon-affiliated newspaper with an admirer of Daniel Pipes at its helm. I am not saying this because I think that religions should be exempt of criticism, but because this is a propaganda ploy to divide people and promote warmongering in the name of freedom of speech.

- Offenses should not be a excuse for violent behavior, but freedom should not be a excuse for offenses. They had made use of his freedom, but freedom should be responsible. Support Peace. Support Gandhi. Support a World without wars!

- Being boycotted by islamic countries is an honor. By the way Denmark thank you for your support in Iraq. Where the larger E.U. countries had to save face amid corruption you stood up to be counted. I salute your courage amoung the cowards of the World.
