I'm all for being a better person to the environment, but this kind of "eco-friendly" claptrap really annoys me. It looks stylish if you're into clean, modern lines (I'm not very much) but does it improve upon the foot or hands in terms of crushing a can? So you build thousands or maybe even millions of these things that don't do anything more than you can do already if you're not a lazy fuckwit, and most likely in five years they are all going into the dump because they'll either break or go out of "fashion."
It's the website Styleo (*barf*) that reviewed this product that REALLY got me though. "Ecopod. Simply drop aluminium cans or plastic bottles in the top opening, press the step to do compaction. The compaction can reduce waste, very functionable."
a) Compaction does nothing to reduce waste. Waste is waste. It makes it smaller, it does not change the fact that you drank 50 bottles of Coke.
b)"functionable." I hate it when people use words that they have no clue what they mean or use them without thinking. So it's able to function. Awesome. How about just plain old "functional"?
