Awesome. I'd like to see these cropping up everywhere.

From the page: The Department of Transportation revealed plans for New York City's first-ever physically-separated bike lane, or "cycle track," at a Manhattan Community Board 4 meeting last night. The new bike path will run southbound on Ninth Avenue from W. 23rd to W. 16th Street in Manhattan. Unlike the typical Class II on-street bike lane in which cyclists mix with motor vehicle traffic, this new design will create an exclusive path for bicycles between the sidewalk and parked cars. ............. Wow! This is pretty exciting news. Reading through the comments, it's pretty easy to see that there is some skepticism about how it will all pan out. Regardless, I think it's awesome that the New York City DOT is willing to give this a try. Here's to hoping it works, catches on, and spreads throughout the rest of the country.

Quaint. At least they are trying, I guess, although I am surprised that the taxpayers in New York City would actually 'OK' and then pay for this - it can't be inexpensive. At least the NYC city council doesn't have a doofus commissioner who tries to relocate condemned bridges from the river to the "trendy" part of town to serve as an elite - and tremendously expensive - incentive for his special-interest constituents.  dipstick.
