From Red Toby...Thanks. A Spy's Plan During the Civil War, William Longnecker planned a gargantuan railway to carry entire ships from the Atlantic Ocean across the isthmus of Florida to the Gulf of Mexico. The railroad would protect Confederate shipping from the deadly Union blockade.
