Amazing article on public speaking, and how to grapple with fear of it. Unlike most how-to articles, however, this one's utterly fascinating. It takes us into the dressing rooms of Placido Domingo and Pavoratti, showing how they prepare for concerts. It gives us insights into Marilyn Monroe and the Queen Mum. It includes videos of speeches by Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King, popes and news anchors, rappers and everyday folks. It's got excerpts of speeches by George Washington and Cicero. It's got videos of the three current presidential candidates, so you can analyze THEIR speaking styles. It's got quotes from average Joes who know nothing about public speaking at all, but who were able to get their message across. In short, there's more news, history, good videos, and just generally cool stuff on this lens than you'd probably find in a week of casual web browsing. And people say Squidoo's spammy. Wow.
