This really works it's funny cause when human are left without order a majority will act civilized. I'm all for this just not sure if that would work in Los Angeles.

Apparently this has been very effective in a number of towns. Ostend's an odd choice though, it's a port city with drivers from the UK arriving in Belgium, I wonder if they've taken away the signs reminding people to drive on the right....

Interesting, just wait till a driver misinterprets the other's gestures. Haha, that would be an epic fail. Not to mention, It would be impossible to tell whose fault it is when there is an accident. I do agree that roads that seem too safe, give the driver a false sense of confidence.

I was thinking about this just the other day when I was stopped at a stop sign. I looked both ways because I didn't want to hit someone--not because it is a rule that I must stop and look both ways.

I like it. It would definitely help me with my road rage. :) Also, it makes sense from an economic standpoint: the less regulation the more prosperous and happy things are.

"Der Spiegel has an article titled European Cities Do Away with Traffic Signs reporting that seven cities and regions in Europe are doing away with traffic signs, signals, painted lines, and even sidewalks. With the motto 'Unsafe is Safe,' the idea is that, when faced with an uncertain, unregulated situation, drivers will be naturally cautious and courteous. Then again, they may end up with streets jammed with pedestrians, bicyclists, and cars like some places in India and China."
