- advapi32.dll,processidletasks doesn't "clear memory" or "clear out proceses" it simply runs maintenance routines that usually get run when the CPU is idle. (i.e. System Restore and file placement optimization ) Whats worse is that it runs synchronously. So if you do run this process and it needs 15 mins to complete, go enjoy a cup of coffee at a starbucks down the block. If you really want to get more performance out of XP then search Arstechnica or [H]ardOCP for XP and Vista Tweaks. They've been doing stuff like this forever and not only do they tell you what to do, they tell you why you're doing it.
