bs1999bs discovered 7 months ago- This article says it all - I encourage you read it folks! The fortitude of the new Australian Government is being tested by the Japanese whaling industry - the "soft options" won't work and the conviction voiced pre-election in Australia has to turn into meaningful action. Verbalising round conference tables has achieved very little in the past as Mugabe has proved in thumbing his nose to World leaders as they (rightly) caned him over human rights issues in recent days. At some point much firmer steps have to be adopted. Politicians have to show some spine and resolve in dealing with bullies!

ketogah rated 7 months ago- whales are superior to humans. thank you OliviaB http://oliviab.stumbleupon.com/

yobaba rated 7 months ago- The black ship is registered in Rotterdam, captained by a Canadian, manned by an international crew and operates on the outer edges of the law. Until last Wednesday, the ship was named the Robert Hunter. It was renamed the Steve Irwin just before sailing from Melbourne to spend two months in Antarctic waters. The ship was relaunched by Terri Irwin, Steve's widow. It was renamed not just in honour of Steve Irwin, but because he was a supporter of Sea Shepherd and because Australia has a potentially major role in stopping whaling in this region.

"Yet the only intimidating presence that stands between the whaling ships and the slaughter of more than a thousand whales - the Japanese have set themselves a quota of 1030 - will be a private ship sailing under a Jolly Roger on which the crossed bones have been replaced by a trident and a shepherd's crook. The shepherd's crook signifies that this ship is operated by Sea Shepherd, the environmental vigilante of the sea." sail on you mighty Sea Shepherd!!! good wikipedia roundup on the great Sea Shepherd watch a couple of great short whale videos here - so great seeing these ancient fabulous creatures at play.
