From the page: "Most gardens have waste patches, but here is how to make every bit count"

Self-sufficiency on a balcony It's not just the planet you'll be saving when you grow your own fruit and vegetables, it's your soul, writes Jackie French. Space constrictions? No time? Read on to find out how you can make this work for you. *** Or ... if you are really short on space, learn step-by-step how to make your own teeny tiny miniature garden at Little Landscapes. ***

a good guide on how to optimize small spaces for growing fruits and veggies

Love the tips for making a very useful garden that will provide pretty near all your produce needs.

From the page: So how do you minimize your "tucker footprint"? By buying local, and organic. But the greenest solution - in every sense - is growing your own. Aha, I hear you chorus, impossible! I've only got a balcony and 10 spare minutes a week ! Impossible? Of course not. Even if you DON'T live in Australia you can do something like this! Great stuff! In Japan hardly anyone has a "yard" or "garden" like we do in the US - but there are container gardens everywhere! And I'm sure I can find some fruits and veggies that will thrive during our rather short growing season here in Portland.

Very handy article showing you how to grow some fruit and vegies on your own balcony (or teeny backyard in my case).

Good ideas of where and which edibles to plant in an urban space. I wonder if there's an article like this tailored to the Pacific Northwest climate.
