Couldn't have said it better myself, thestripedone... On a similar theme... Read a wonderful essay by Roger Penrose recently: http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg19225780.069-the-big-question s-what-is-reality.html ...which, funnily enough, is topped off with a brief essay from Professor Nick Bostrom himself concerning this... Coincidences rock!!!

This paper DOES NOT argue that WE ARE in a simulation, just that it is possbile. From the page: "This paper argues that ***at least one*** of the following propositions is true: (1) the human species is very likely to go extinct before reaching a "posthuman" stage; (2) any posthuman civilization is extremely unlikely to run a significant number of simulations of their evolutionary history (or variations thereof); (3) we are almost certainly living in a computer simulation. It follows that the belief that there is a significant chance that we will one day become posthumans who run ancestor-simulations is false, unless we are currently living in a simulation. A number of other consequences of this result are also discussed." Emphasis added.

A unusual study !, Some people call it myth, some fscination , But there are good enough number of people who believe in it !

a 21st century creation myth, showing why we will always prefer to dream up elaborate nonsense than admit to knowing little to nothing about existence. The ones who fabricate this backwards way of thinking are so out of touch with their very souls is it any wonder they inflict these meaningless concepts on the rest of us?

this is a very interesting topic, another 'approach' for it, lets say, is to think about living in a dream estate.

This is just amazing. I've thought very long that I'm a simulation (but made by aliens rather than humans of machines...)... Interesting. Too bad that I don't understand a lot of this "higher" math...
