If you've ever served in the military, you know how difficult it can be to say no to an immoral order or to stand your ground. These Israeli soldiers are doing just that. And I have a tremendous respect for them. This site details their testimonals about what they've been asked to do or seen happen in the Occupied Territories. Spend some time on it. The amount of conviction and courage required to do this deserves a hearing and a listen from all of us. Kudos guys (and gals)! Here's what Mondo Weiss wrote to explain the significance of one of the soldiers involved with this adherence to International Law that doesn't go over well with pro-Zionist groups: http://mondoweiss.observer.com/2006/12/i-witness-the-israel-lobby-in- action.html "After Shaul's speech, representing "my comrades and not just myself," he was bombarded by hostile questions from Israel supporters in the audience. Shaul handled them with strength and ease. (Q. "Do you know of a counterpart organization where Palestinians question their moral decisions?" A. "I really don't care--I am an Israeli who has to raise his children in Israel...") Just as gripping to me was the discussion that took place after the event between Rachel Glaser, the campus coordinator of the rightwing Zionist Organization of America, and the students who had organized the event. "What did this accomplish? What did it accomplish?" Glaser barked at the organizers. "It achieved something important," one of the Jewish students said. "People perceive pro-Israel groups as monolithic. They think that we are not able to take responsibility for the bad things that happen." Fine, Glaser said, but the students should have organized "a panel," in which Shaul was just one voice. "Have someone else," she said. (Just as the New York Theatre Workshop wanted to "contextualize" the Rachel Corrie play with pro-Israel voices.) It was one thing to have Yehuda Shaul give a talk inside Israel, Glaser said. "Outside of Israel, you're playing with fire." This chilling statement was a candid expression of the goals of the Israel lobby." Mondo Weiss --The above is just a simple glimpse into the orchestrated and planned effort to prevent all Americans, Jewish and non from understanding what they are really supporting in Israel. If you wonder why Americans are so stupid on this issue, Ms. Glaser and others like her are a primary reason. In my opinion, her conduct which seeks to prevent Americans of all faiths from knowing facts so she can protect a foreign nation...well, when one places another nation's interests above their own nation's, there is a word for it. And when Americans of all faiths start applying those words to actions like this designed to keep people ignorant and bury the truth to maintain the status quo and the military objectives of a foreign nation, this will end. From the page: "The exhibition (a collaboration between Breaking the Silence and ActiveStills) includes photographs taken by Israeli and Palestinian photographers over the past 40 years in the city of Hebron, including pictures taken by soldiers from Breaking the Silence"

after having read through the site, it astonishes me that the Palestinians don't hate the Israelis even more. if this is normal Israeli occupation behavior, the fact that there will be no peace in the region cannot be blamed on Hamas/Fatah alone. the IDF shares 50% of the blame.

Sure now: look at this site and wonder. The fact that these are Israeli soldiers is incidental: War dehumanises all combatants.
