  • When Evolution Is Not So Slow And Gradual

Interesting. Needs must when the devil drives. Evolution is a survival trait; mutations in species can be good or bad. If bad for the species, then they don't survive. Mutations that provide positive survival benefits gradually predominate; hence survival of the fittest.

Sensationalist reporting is really getting on my nerves lately. In Biology the equations that tell you about exactly how fast those guppies should evolve are practically ancient- you only learn them as a history lesson. It's like the reporters think you guys are too stupid to read something and know whether you knew about it already or not so they just repeatedly tell you about how new, exciting, and unique it is... when it isn't. I know a few people who study fish and it's exhaustive. They don't leave any stones unturned if you get my drift. Anything new about evolution is going to be too complicated for the reporters writing about it to understand, much less simplify down to general news.

Is evolving faster a survival mechanism? Either you have useful traits that you pass on to your offspring or you just dont.
