Scientific American lost any integrity it had when it went political and stopped being an unbiased comprehensive science journal. The way this article is written is so telling that it is almost funny... Almost.

I don't know what magazine you are thinking of but Scientific American has never since 1845 been a science journal. It has always been a popular science magazine and has always dealt with the politics of science.

a very insightful critique of a movie that doesnt really deserve it. "Expelled/An Inconvenient Truth/any Michael Moore film" have essentially raped the once-respected documentary genre into a vapid cesspool of self-serving propoganda. Why anyone would appropriate any of their hard-earned money to any of these blowhards is beyond me... they're just a bunch of dipshits who are different sides of the same retarted coin. Why bother thinking for yourself when you can just let someone scream it over and over until it becomes 'true'?

I lost all respect for Stein many years ago. This is just another Stein idiocy, no different than anything else he's done that shows his ignorance, I should say stupidity because ignorance can be fixed.

Unfortunately, Expelled is a movie not quite harmless enough to be ignored. Shrugging off most of the film's attacks (all recycled from previous pro-ID works) would be easy, but its heavy-handed linkage of modern biology to the Holocaust demands a response for the sake of simple human decency. You know... I used to respect and even like Ben Stein, despite his conservative politics. Maybe in part because of them- frankly it's rare to see someone with his beliefs who seems calm enough to carry a good discussion. Apparently those days are over. Once you pull this kind of crap it pretty much proves that you're incapable of reasonable discussion.

"Director Nathan Frankowski is reasonably adept at the techniques, although he is not half the filmmaker Michael Moore is (and yes, I do mean in both senses of the phrase)." LOL

I am ASTOUNDED at the level of ignorance shown by people these days. When did people get it in their thick skulls that evolution has ANYTHING to do with explaining the origins of life?

Maybe I could spell it out for some people in my own words.

Evolution is merely the fundamental principle that organisms adapt to their physical environment. It is a well documented and empirically verifiable theory on which all of modern biology rests. Through environmental and sexual selection, the most fit organisms are represented in the population due to their ability to survive and reproduce better. This is because of slight modifications made to an organism's DNA during the transcribing process of cell division. Evolution is NOT magical mutation based on an individual's free will. Seriously, people need to read a book, take a class, open their minds, ect.

I was actually interested in this movie until I found out it was a long rant using the same old intelligent design arguments, such as dis-information, lack of evidence, etc.
