MamaJS rated 17 months agojournalism, controversy - Author makes a sound case for media outlets to stop reporting school shootings, as these reports feed the ego of young adults who are mad at the world and want people to know about it. His theory? Stop letting the world know about it, and the depressed teen will vent in other (and hopefully less destructive) ways. Seems to be creating a lot of controversy within the SU community, which is not unusual for a non-conformist solution to an obvious problem.
BigLeon rated 18 months ago- So let me get this straight? You are actually taking the blame off the people with the guns in their hands, and putting it on people who had nothing to do with the actual shootings?
Overwined rated 18 months ago- Very silly. Do news networks over-exaggerate school shootings? Probably. Do we somehow lose a right to know about them because of the news networks? That's absurd.

Are you all friggin blind?
No one is just angry at the world and depressed for no reason. You couldn't be more ignorant. Stop blaming the news and video games, violence and social deviance has existed LONG before either medium of communication existed.
To understand why any of this keeps happening you have to understand the history of why it happened. Read Lloyd deMause's History of Child Abuse or The Universality of Incest if you're serious about knowing the core of societies problems.
stop looking at this superficial bullshit, it's meaningless and you know it.
Sirtalksalot rated 18 months ago- Yeah! Cus it's got nothing to do with American society's ability to alienate people to the point of madness, and give them easy access to automatic weapons!

NintendoMan rated 18 months agojournalism - I don't know guys, he does seem to have some good points which you can't deny. I agree with this guy, not completely, but a good percentage.
novie-g rated 18 months agojournalism - From the page: "You are not journalists. You are drug dealers. Except, instead of narcotics, you peddle sex and violence; fear and moral panic."
