Hi everyone this is Daniel. Please take time to read through this, I implore you.
What is it?
A huge crisis that needs support right now. It is a political issue that the Sudanese government has taken into it's hands to eliminate the rebels and civilians using their militia.
It is being paid for with severe casualties, nearly half a million people have already been killed.
Genocide is the systematic and planned extermination of an entire national, racial, political, or ethnic group. In this case it is a political, national and ethnic group.
Why should I do anything?
Innocent civilians, children, men and women are being exterminated at a horrific rate. In my humble opinion it is the single biggest humanitarian concern in the modern world today. Genocide should be stopped, would you accept genocide in America? Likewise would you accept it anywhere else?
How do I help?
Organizations - They already help and need your support, check with your Community, Church, Synagogue, or even family about what they know regarding the issue in Sudan & Darfur.
Know - find out about the things going on there. Read the news: http://news.google.com/ search "Darfur", read your newspaper's international section.
Act - There are many ways to act. First this is an easy way that you can show your support: Put your name & email on this postcard to President Bush: http://www.savedarfur.org/ Locally in SoCal there is an event coming up, please attend, or get someone to if you can't go, or check savedarfur.org for local events:

- It's been a year since the genocide in Darfur was officially declared. Have you all seen anything to suggest that this situation is resolved?

- It's so terrible to hear the news of Dafur & worse that the UN's is doing very little about it. & it doesn't get better, on a Al-Quida statement the other day, Muslims were urged to join the fight.
I find myself Shocked & appalled. It just really can get me down @ times. The Middle East at war due to the need of the rest of the World for the oil & the lack of stable fair leadership. Africa looks like its been given up for dead. What with one disaster after another, drought, famine, civil war, Aids & now bird flu.
